POLICIES FOR ALL ATHLETES

FEE STRUCTURE AND PAYMENT PLANS

  • Recreational and Junior Gym programs run in 4 separate sessions and fees are pro-rated based on the number of weeks per session. There will be no refunds unless a prolonged medical condition occurs at which time a Doctor’s note will be required. If withdrawal from a program is due to illness or injury Key City Gymnastics requires a note from the child’s doctor stating that the gymnast is unable to participate in gymnastics any longer due to an injury and/or medical condition (nature of injury/condition must be stated in the doctor’s note). Once they have recovered we would also like a doctor’s note stating that the athlete is fit and able to return to his/her gymnastics program.
  • If Key City Gymnastics cancels a program due to low registration numbers a full refund will be given.
  • Payment of programs must be paid in full at time of registration or by submitting the required number of post dated cheques (to be submitted at registration). Payment options include: Cash, Cheque, Visa, M/C, and Debit.
  • Refunds are only given prior to start of term. A $15.00 service charge will apply to all refunds.
  • There will be a $20.00 service charge for all NSF cheques.
  • Discounts: A 10% discount will be applied to all subsequent children. Full fees will be charged for gymnast in highest level.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

It is the responsibility of the gymnast to make the most of what the club can offer. To do this, a gymnast needs to arrive at the gym prepared to work hard, pay attention, and at the same time, have FUN.

  • Children MUST be the correct age for the selected program within 30 days of the start of the program.
  • Gymnasts are expected to arrive at the gym on time.
  • Gymnasts are expected to attend every class – absence is not beneficial to progress.
  • Attendance – if a gymnast will not be attending due to illness or any other reason, it is extremely important to notify the office. Missed classes cannot be made up and refunds cannot be given unless a prolonged medical condition occurs at which time a Doctor’s note will be required.
  • A positive attitude, sportsmanship and above all, fairness, will be brought in each day. Respect to coaches, fellow gymnasts, equipment and the gym is to be demonstrated and practiced at all times. A first time offense will result in a warning to the gymnast. Second time will result in call to parents. Third time will result in possible dismissal.
  • If your child must leave early, they must inform the coach at the beginning of class.
  • Training Attire – Competitive gymnasts will be expected to wear proper training attire. Recreational gymnasts are to wear proper fitting t-shirt and shorts (or pants as the weather gets colder) – girls are welcome to wear body suits. No belly shirts, ½ shirts, jeans or large baggy clothing will be permitted. As a matter of safety we require that all long hair be tied back and that no jewelry is worn.
  • NO SHOES are permitted in the gym area. All footwear should be removed in the seating area.
  • Gymnasts are not to be in the gym or on the equipment without supervision.
  • Equipment and the facility must always be respected and used in a safe manner.
  • Please pick your child up from the sitting area of the gym. Children 11 years of age and under will not be allowed to leave without a parent. **Please let coaches know if someone different will be picking up your child.
  • ALL injuries must be reported to your coach immediately no matter how insignificant the injury seems. If treatment is given promptly, it is usually less painful and likely to heal quicker. If an injury has occurred outside of class time it is important for coaches to be advised so that the child can be properly monitored during their gymnastics class and not attempt skills which may aggravate or worsen an existing problem.
  • No food, drink, or candy is permitted on the workout floor or viewing area. Due to fluctuating sugar levels in children we would encourage your child to only bring healthy snacks to the gym. By doing so this helps the children to maintain their safety in the gym and on the equipment. The types of food that should be consumed are: water, fruit, vegetables, protein foods and any other nutritious snack you child enjoys. Please do not bring candy, pop, or other similar HIGH SUGAR foods.
  • It is the parent’s responsibility to advise administration of any medical or physical problems that may have occurred outside the gym.
  • Due to severe allergic reactions, nuts or any peanut products WILL NOT be permitted in the gym.
  • It is our goal that all parents and gymnasts maintain good communication with the coaches employed at Key City Gymnastics Club. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to discuss your child’s progress, please make arrangements to meet with your child’s coach. Appointments can be scheduled at the office.
  • Current information and events are posted on the bulletin boards. Please read them weekly. ALL families will have a mailbox located in the lobby where they can pick up any information relevant to their child. We will also be using email for regular communication with your family.

VIEWING AREA

  • Parents are welcome to watch their children workout. We appreciate you watching from the dance studio upstairs, except when in use for dance classes. We would ask all family members not to sit or stand on any of the equipment in the gym, including gym mats.
  • We would ask that all dance studio rules be followed by family members and friends. Failure to do so could result in being asked to leave. Dance studio rules include the following:
  • NO shoes or footwear permitted. Please remove all footwear in the lobby.
  • NO food, drinks or snacks permitted.
  • NO running or jumping. This is extremely disruptive to the classes and coaches on the floor, as well as the office.

  • We encourage you to bring QUIET toys for children to play with in the dance studio, i.e.: books, puzzles, coloring books and crayons, stuffed animals, construction sets, etc.

We appreciate your cooperation in the above rules.

FUNDRAISING

Fundraising activities are an important source of income for Key City Gymnastics Club. The fundraising revenue we receive is used to purchase new training equipment or update old equipment. As a result, your participation and assistance in our fundraising activities is vital for the success of our club and its programs.

We carry Grocery Gift Cards (Safeway, Save On Foods and Superstore) in our office. Cards can be purchased in $50.00 increments in the office during office hours or by completing a pre-order form found on the bulletin board outside the office. (Payment must be included with all pre-order forms.)

Thank you and if you have any questions or concerns with the above listed policies and guidelines, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (250)426-2090 or by email at keycity@telus.net .
